Your eyes, your skinGoggles on. Every time you face the panel.

This panel is bright, and near-infrared light is invisible, so your eyes can't tell how much is reaching them. That's why blackout goggles come in the box.

Eyes:

  • Goggles on and eyes closed when facing the panel.
  • Never look into the LEDs, at any distance, without the goggles on.
  • Never closer than 15 cm (6 in).
  • Start with 5 minutes at 30 cm in week one.
  • Stop if your skin feels hot or looks irritated, and check with your doctor.
  • Keep children and pets away while it's on.

Not for children.

Before your first session: check this list

Talk to your doctor before using it if you:

  • are pregnant
  • take medication or use skincare that makes skin sensitive to light
  • have epilepsy triggered by light, or an eye condition
  • have a light-sensitive skin condition, or a history of skin cancer
  • have a tattoo or darker pigmentation in the area (start shorter and further away)
  • have a medical condition or are under a doctor's care, or have broken or sunburnt skin in the area.

FAQRed light panel questions, answered.

Using it

What is the Folliq Panel?
The Folliq Panel is an at-home LED panel, 48 × 30 cm, with 150 dual-chip LEDs at 630, 660, 830 and 850 nm. Its output is about 25 mW/cm² at 30 cm (12 in), measured on a spectroradiometer basis, and it comes with a floor stand, an over-door kit and blackout goggles.
How far should I stand from a red light panel?
For everyday sessions, about 30 cm (12 in), roughly the length of a ruler. For the face you can come closer, to 15 cm (6 in), but shorten the session to 5–6 minutes. For your upper body or back, step back to 45–60 cm (18–24 in) so the light covers a wider area. Never go closer than 15 cm.
How long and how often should I use it?
Ten minutes at 30 cm, three to five times a week, suits most routines. Start with 5 minutes in your first week. Longer isn't better: light research describes a "sweet spot", and very long sessions don't add more. Keep to the distance-and-time card in the box.
Some LEDs look dark. Is it broken?
That's normal. The 830 and 850 nm LEDs are near-infrared, which your eyes barely see, so they look dim or dark next to the red ones. To see them glow, switch the red off, leave the near-infrared on and look at the panel through your phone camera: many phone cameras show near-infrared as a faint glow. Keep your goggles on whenever you face the panel.
Can it change pigmentation or melasma?
If you have melasma or darker patches, ask a dermatologist before you start. You can switch the near-infrared LEDs off and use red only. Start at 30 cm for 5 minutes, and stop if you notice any change in colour.
Can I use it for my scalp?
Hair blocks most of a panel's light, so for a scalp routine we suggest the Folliq Red Light Cap, or the Panel + Cap set ($629).
Can I use it in the evening?
Yes. You can make it a calm ten minutes in the evening, standing or sitting at 45–60 cm. We don't make claims about sleep or recovery. Think of it as part of your evening routine.

Output and safety

Why is your irradiance number lower than other brands'?
Because we state it on a spectroradiometer basis, not with a solar power meter. Solar meters are calibrated for sunlight, not narrow-band LEDs. Two brands that publish both figures show the consumer-meter number at about 2.2–2.4 times the spectroradiometer number. Our measured output is about 35 mW/cm² at 15 cm and about 25 mW/cm² at 30 cm, the range used in published skin studies.
Is it low-flicker and low-EMF?
It uses a constant-current driver with no PWM dimming. Measured flicker is below 3 % and the magnetic field below 0.2 µT (2 mG) at 15 cm. We publish them as numbers, not as flicker-free or low-EMF badges.
Is it safe for my eyes?
Wear the included blackout goggles and keep your eyes closed whenever you face the panel. Near-infrared light is invisible, so your eyes can't judge how much light is reaching them. Never look into the LEDs, at any distance, without the goggles on. If you have an eye condition, ask your doctor first.
Who shouldn't use it?
Talk to your doctor first if you're pregnant, take light-sensitising medication or skincare, have light-triggered epilepsy, an eye condition, a light-sensitive skin condition or a history of skin cancer, have a medical condition or are under a doctor's care, or have broken or sunburnt skin in the area. Not for children. The Folliq Panel is a cosmetic device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Is it FDA cleared?
No. It's sold as a cosmetic, general-wellness light for the look of skin and relaxation. We don't claim it treats any condition.

Choosing

Is a red light therapy panel worth it?
It depends on what you expect. Any change in how your skin looks is gradual and subtle, and nobody can promise one. Used 3 times a week for 3 years, the Folliq Panel works out at about $1.07 a session. The 90-day home trial lets you decide at home.
What should I look for in a red light panel?
Look for four things: an irradiance figure from a spectroradiometer at a stated distance, not a solar-meter number; flicker and magnetic-field figures given as numbers; a stand included, so you can keep a steady distance; and trial and warranty terms you can read before you buy. See how we measure our own output figures.
How do I compare red light panels?
Compare four numbers, each with its distance and method: output in mW/cm² at a stated distance, the wavelengths, flicker and the warranty. For the Folliq Panel that is about 25 mW/cm² at 30 cm, 630, 660, 830 and 850 nm, flicker below 3 % and a 2-year warranty.
Panel or face mask: which should I choose?
Choose the Panel if you want one light for your face, neck, chest and back, and you like a standing or sitting routine. Choose the Folliq Face Mask ($249) if it's only your face and you want to lie back hands-free with built-in eye cups. Choose the Red Light Cap ($199) for your scalp.
Why four wavelengths and not just 660 and 850 nm?
Many panels use only 660 and 850 nm. We chose 630, 660, 830 and 850 nm because these are the wavelengths used in published skin-appearance studies (for example 633 and 830 nm in Lee 2007, 630 nm in Couturaud 2023). Those studies used other devices and doses, and none tested the Folliq Panel. We don't claim more wavelengths give better results.
How long do red light panels last?
The Panel has a 2-year warranty: if a fan, the driver or the LEDs fail in normal use, we repair or replace it.

Orders

What's included, and do I need to buy a stand?
No. The floor stand and an over-door kit are both in the box, with goggles, a remote, the power cable and a quick-start guide. Many panels sell the stand separately.
What if it isn't for me?
You have 90 days to try it at home, even if you've used it. Email us, our courier collects it from your door and we refund the full price once it's back. The Panel also has a 2-year warranty.
Who handles warranty and returns?
Our own team. Email us and a person answers, usually within one to two business days. For a return within 90 days, our courier collects the panel from your door and we refund the full price once it's back with us.
