How does the Folliq mask protect your eyes?
- Opaque cups, designed to let through no more than 0.1% of the light
- No LED within 15 mm of the eye openings
- The light starts only when the mask is on your face, and stops when you lift it

Three evenings a week, you lie back and close your eyes. Ten minutes of warm red light that is only yours.
About 1 in 3 lights look off while the mask is on. Those are the near-infrared ones, working: your eyes can't see that light.

*€221,95 over 312 sessions: three a week for the two years of the warranty. Salon devices are usually stronger than home devices. Salon prices: self-reported US costs of a single LED session (2019 data), as quoted by Healthline, checked October 2026.
Made for your face

How to use

Bare skin: no serum, makeup or sunscreen under the mask.

Tighten the two straps. The eye cups sit over your closed eyes.

It switches off by itself. Then serum, moisturiser, and retinol if you use it.

Pick your three evenings and put them in your phone calendar now. Take a photo by the same window at weeks 1, 4, 8 and 12. The controller does the rest.
The controller screen counts down and the mask switches itself off.
The controller counts every session, so you see how far you have come.
Same window, same time of day, no makeup. Compare week 1 with week 12, with time left to decide.
The research
Short answer: for some people, a modest and gradual change. In randomised studies with other devices, red and near-infrared light on the face gave softer-looking fine lines around the eyes after 4 to 12 weeks. In a 2025 randomised home-mask trial (Park et al., 59 people analysed), 86% of mask users had better-rated crow's feet at week 12, against 17% with a sham mask. None of these studies used the Folliq mask, and results vary from person to person.

Read on PubMedLight dose per session in J/cm². Light works on a dose window: more is not better, and more power means more heat on your face.
Doses from published studies, measured on other devices. Folliq figures are engineer-confirmed design specifications; production units will be measured independently and we will publish the full report here, whatever it shows. A similar dose does not guarantee similar results. Why 12 mW/cm² and not more? More power means more heat on your face. The Folliq mask gives 7.2 J/cm² per session by design, between the two studies in the chart above. The 2025 home-mask trial (Park et al., Medicine, 2025) used up to 10 mW/cm² per wavelength, 9 minutes, five times a week for 12 weeks; we chose three longer sessions a week. How wavelength and dose work: our plain-English guide, written for the scalp. The studies behind our hair devices, with their limits, are on our clinical evidence page.
Because they are two different measurements. A figure of 30 to 80 mW/cm² is usually a peak: the reading right in front of a single LED, where the light is strongest. The Folliq mask's 12 mW/cm² (8 red + 4 near-infrared) is the average across your whole face at skin level, gaps between the LEDs included. Over a 10-minute session that gives 7.2 J/cm² (12 mW/cm² × 600 seconds).
| Figure | What it describes |
|---|---|
| 30–80 mW/cm² (typical claim) | Peak reading in front of a single LED |
| 12 mW/cm² (Folliq, design) | Average across the whole face at skin level, gaps included |
| 7.2 J/cm² (Folliq, design) | Dose per 10-minute session: 12 mW/cm² × 600 s |

What a dermatologist and the AAD say about LED masks in general
Some clinical studies show LED face masks can benefit the skin, she says, but results vary and long-term studies are lacking.
“Keep in mind that it takes time to see the results and not everyone sees them.”

About Folliq
Folliq was founded in 2026 by Sebastian Ciobanu, who runs it from the Netherlands. He is not a doctor, and we will not pretend otherwise.
The mask is built to a written engineering specification (v2.1, October 2026): wavelengths, average light across the face, how much light the eye cups let through, and heat limits. You can read the customer summary of it as a PDF. Production units will go to an independent lab for irradiance, eye safety and surface temperature, and we will publish that report on this page, whatever it shows.
